What's in store for Turra 2025?
Turra has been going strong for over 40 years on it's well honed recipe of lots of workshops, lots of socialising and silliness, and lots of friendly folks. Here's a bit of a run down of what to expect from Turra, whether it's your first camp or your forty-first. Along with these highlights, expect impromptu performances, surprises, and opportunities to jam!
Welcome to Country and Friday night concert
We'll have Wadawurrung man Barry Gilson joining us once again for a moving welcome to country and smoking ceremony, followed by our welcome concert. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the tutors - and if you're extra keen, get up and share something of your own.
Saturdee bush dance
After a full day of workshops, expanding your mind and your skills, we all get together in the main hall for a good old fashioned bush dance! Why is it called 'Saturdee' and not Saturday? This has been lost to the sands of time, but we do know we get down! Literally - you are likely to see an epic limbo competition go down at some point during the night.
Sunday night festivities
Now that we've spent a whole weekend learning songs and sharing ideas, we celebrate! We love to mark the end of the weekend with a parade through the camp, led by the Ensemble leaders which typically becomes an all-out outdoor dance party. Then comes the moment that we've all been waiting for - the famous Sunday night concert! This is where each workshop gets a chance to perform what they've learnt over the weekend - all mixed together with amazing blackboard items from all you camp goers. All ages are encouraged to perform, just make sure you get your request in early with the program team, as this concert tends to fill up. The result is a one of a kind program of any and every type of performance you can imagine!
Monday morning
The melancholy time we all say goodbye and 'see ya next year'. You will find those dedicated stragglers still jamming, potentially still up since Sunday night...
