2025 Tutors

Introducing our line up of talented and generous workshop leaders.

Program Overview

The Turramurra Music Camp, now in its 41st year offers a tried and true formula of workshops and activities to connect and celebrate the richness and diversity of our musical community. We have a great line up of locally and nationally acclaimed tutors who will continue the Turramurra tradition of inclusive instrumental, singing and art workshops, respecting the old and taking us to new artistic places. And as always lots of opportunities to hang out, swap stories and share music with old and new friends under clear skies and amongst nature.

Ensemble - Headphones Jones

Pack your suitcase for adventure! Funk explorers Headphones Jones serve up a tasty blend of Funk, Nigerian Afrobeat and Afro-Latin styles. Featuring big horns, driving rhythms and punchy vocals, they have spent a decade bringing their high-energy sets to stages all over the country including the National Folk Festival, CresFest & MOOMBA.

Ensemble members Mel Taylor (vocals), Sam Osborn-Rassaby (percussion), Tom Benson (saxophone) and Josh Antmann (guitar) will facilitate the Ensemble Workshops with a focus on building grooves and large ensemble playing, participants will learn original repertoire to share at the final concert.

Sing-along, play-along - Gaelle Horsely

Gaelle has been involved in the Victorian music scene for decades, kicked off by participation at Turramurra when she first arrived in Australia (thanks, Cathy & Ernie!). She went from campfire singing to winning the Mortlake Buskers Festival Best Performer award, to singing in 5 bands and running a large music festival. Currently she sings with two jazz bands and runs a community sing-along play-along orchestra in Melbourne. It's this model that Gaelle is bringing to Turramurra, with simple playing for beginners and more complex improvisation options for more skilled players. So come and feel the folk, belt out some blues, sink into soul, peal out some pop, jog through some jazz or croon some contemporary. Come on, you know you want to!

Tarantella Dance Workshop - Rosa Voto

Rosa Voto is an Italian born performing artist now based in Melbourne. She grew up amongst the dances and music of her family and ancestors from Puglia and Calabria, later studying ballet and jazz dance in Florence. Rosa is the founder and director of the Melbourne School of Tarantella and has contributed to numerous multicultural festivals and events across the country. Many will have seen Rosa performing with the wonderful Melbourne band Sanacori.  She has developed specific dance and movement programs for primary and secondary schools, nursing homes and community centres to help participants achieve physical, emotional and social integration.
