Volunteer applications for the 2024 camp (Friday 27 - Monday 30 September) are now open and will close on 28th July.
Volunteer positions are available for those aged 18 years and over.
Please read all the information below before completing the Application Form.
Music camps like Rosewood couldn’t happen without the generous support we receive from our volunteers. We encourage past and prospective volunteers to join us for this year’s camp. We value the time, effort and expertise of every volunteer at Rosewood.
As a volunteer you will be working with a Committee Team Leader who will be directing you in your role.
There are many and varied tasks that require volunteer assistance:
Pre-camp set up: on Thursday & Friday involves placing signage around the camp; setting up & decorating the inside of the main marquee, workshop tents & Green Room area, camp kitchen & dining room setup, setting up sanitation & 1st aid stations. Volunteers need to have a good level of fitness as you will be on your feet for most of the shift and you will be carrying and moving items. Some ‘light work’ using a ladder may be involved. Lunch on Friday will be provided.
Welcome Tent: Friday afternoon to early evening (in 2hr shifts). You will be working in pairs to welcome all arrivals to camp, give directions to accommodation areas including camping locations (tents & caravans), and bunkhouse locations and handout camp map and program.
Catering assistance: Helping with meal service, washing dishes, monitoring compost bins, maintaining cleanliness in the dining room, before, during & after meal times.
Sanitation Team: Assisting with current Covid regulations (as directed by a Committee member), monitoring cleanliness (but not cleaning) of portaloos and indoor bathrooms in the bunkhouses. Role suitable for those who have a good level of fitness as some of our facilities are spread widely around our camp.
Music Support: Assisting tutors in their workshop (musical competency is necessary), MC opportunities, stage management, setting up venues for concerts, assisting the sound production team.
Art & Sunday Parade support: Assisting the art tutor to deliver their workshops and helping participants to realise the planned artwork for the Sunday parade. Role is suitable for those who enjoy craft work, learning something new & having fun with young & old. Also, a willingness to put in extra time to help the art tutor to finish off the project for the big Sunday parade.
Monday Pack down (9am -1pm): This is an important job. It is not onerous, but we do need dedicated hands to help pack away and store our equipment in the shed to be ready for next year’s camp. You MUST be available on Monday until 1 pm - if you need to leave early, please select another area. You will be provided with lunch and it is a jovial time as we reminisce about the highlights & funny moments we have experienced during camp.
To apply please complete the form below.
Successful applicants will be notified by the 28th July. Your volunteer status means that you do not have to pay to attend Rosewood.
However, please note that all volunteers still need to register and purchase a complimentary ticket.
We will send you a link with a complimentary code when we confirm your volunteer status.
You will still need to purchase tickets for any bunkhouse accommodation for yourself and tickets/bunkhouse accommodation for other family members, including children 5 years and older.
A reminder: volunteers will need to ensure that any children they are responsible for will be looked after by another responsible adult while they undertake their volunteer work at camp.
It is preferable that volunteers are familiar with the camp so that you are allocated to suitable roles.
However, new, fresh faces with a good sense of humour, appropriate skill set and/or experience and willingness to pitch in when help is needed are valued. If that describes you, please apply. There will be committee members & past volunteers to give you a guiding hand.
On your application you will need to provide the name & phone number of a Referee. Preferably this will be someone who has previously attended a Rosewood camp. Otherwise it should be someone who can vouch for your character and willingness to pitch-in.
